Course 1: This course is designed to provide dental professionals with the ‘soft skills’ that can enhance overall workplace and career satisfaction. This course is designed to help the dental professionals recognize and develop the coaching skills needed to enhance patient behavior changes. Practical daily office applications will be reviewed including the beliefs and values surrounding floss and its impact on the dental culture. Evidence on safe and effective alternatives to traditional dental floss will be examined.
 
Course 2: This course is designed to provide practitioners with the tools to play a key role in achieving successful outcomes with individuals who have diabetes or are at-risk for diabetes. The role of obesity and its oral health implications will be reviewed. The implications from the early-age adoption of adult behaviors and habits on health and life longevity will be discussed. Strategies for oral health interventions will be included. This course is designed to provide the dental team with research and information to understand and recognize the overall health needs and expectations of Baby Boomers and Senior citizens and provide them with quality care and patient service. Carol A. Jahn, RDH, MS has a BS in Dental Hygiene from the University of Iowa and an MS in Continuing Education & Training from the University of St Francis. She has had 14 years of experience in clinical dental hygiene. Carol is a nationally registered speaker and had provided more than 200 courses in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia. As an established author, she has written more than 65 published papers and is a textbook contributor including the Clinical Periodontology, 10th & 11th Ed, and Mosby’s Clinical Dental Hygiene, 2nd Ed.  Carol is a former ADHA Board of Trustee member and former president of Illinois Dental Hygienists’ Association and West Suburban Dental Hygienists’ Society.
